Today’s Scripture: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:21
Usually, we think our money is going to follow our hearts, so where our heart is, that is where our money is going to be. According to our Scripture passage today, that is not true. The God Who made us and knows the way we are says that our heart is going to follow our money – where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
If you are feeling convicted about where you are putting your money, then maybe you should put your money where you know God wants. When you do that, then your heart is going to be in that same place. It is a wonderful thing when you follow God and what He has to say.
I believe King David illustrates this in 1 Chronicles 29:3, where it says, “Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house.”
King David’s heart was to see the temple built. He knew he was not going to be the one to build it, but his money went there because he knew it was right. That is where his heart was and that is where his affections were.
If your heart is not in the right place today, stop and take a good look at where your money is going. Spend some time in prayer asking God to help you put your money and your heart in the right place.
