Today’s Scripture: The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2

There was a lady who was cooking a pasta dish for several invited guests. She forgot to refrigerate the spaghetti sauce and didn’t know what to do. She didn’t have time to make another batch of sauce. So she called the local Poison Control Center. They said it would be okay if she just boiled the sauce again. Relieved, she followed their instructions.

Later that night, the phone rang and one of the guests answered it. The person on the other line said, “This is the Poison Control Center. We’re just wondering how your spaghetti turned out.”

Probably not the best way to start a meal.

Maybe today you’re feeling like this day has already gotten off to a bad start. Your kids were exceptionally wild in the car on the way to school, the toast was burnt, or you accidentally overslept. You’re flustered and frazzled. You wonder, ‘Can this day be salvaged?’, as you ponder the not-so-friendly people at the office you have to deal with.

Perhaps this is the moment you need to take to pray. Stop for a few seconds, whisper your concerns to God, ask for added strength in facing today’s problems, and then go with the faith that He’ll take care of your needs.

It may not necessarily result in a big promotion or a hug from your cranky boss, but now you know you can face what is ahead because you’re doing it with the Lord.
