Today’s Scripture: And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. Judges 7:7

Throughout the Scriptures, we see several examples of God using little things to accomplish big results. God called Gideon to lead an army to drive out the Midianites who were oppressing Israel. At first, Gideon had an army of 32,000 men. This was nothing in comparison to the Midianites’ army, and it would be far too small for them to win without God intervening.

God did intervene. However, it wasn’t in the way Gideon expected. God knew He wouldn’t get the glory He deserved if He used the 32,000 man army. He made the army smaller! God delights in using small things. At first, Gideon lost 22,000 men. His significantly smaller army of 10,000, in God’s eyes, was still too big! God wanted to use a smaller army. Through God’s guidance, Gideon’s army shrunk to a “pitiful” 300 men.

God used that tiny army with just trumpets, pitchers, and lamps. The army surrounded the enemy’s camp, and at the signal, they shouted, “The sword of the LORD and of Gideon!” Then God did an incredible act in the enemy’s camp. He caused them to start fighting each other! The Midianites literally destroyed their own massive army because Gideon had faith to obey God with a small army.

If God can use an army of 300 against one of the greatest armies in the world at that time, then surely God can use you. Nothing is impossible with God; trust Him.
