Even the strongest of individuals must come to grips with his weakness when confronted with the strength of a caterpillar. This caterpillar is black and yellow. It may be found in gardens, but is just as at home in riverbeds, marshy areas, and forests. It’s not a pest like other caterpillars, but it has some strange characteristics. Some species have no legs and move about by sliding along the ground, while others have legs and feet and roll from place to place. Perhaps the caterpillar’s strangest trait is its eating habits. Its diet consists only of diesel fuel, but this nutrient gives its heart all the strength it needs for a day of moving dirt.
In case you haven’t guessed, this caterpillar isn’t the cute and cuddly variety which likes to make a meal of your garden and then morph into a butterfly. I’m referring to the Caterpillar brand of industrial-grade bulldozers. I’ve had the privilege of operating one of these impressive machines, and I tell you, it has tremendous power.
Suppose after displacing the equivalent surface area of a football field of dirt I said, “Look how strong I am. I was able to move all this dirt by myself.” That would be foolish. The power wasn’t in me. The power was in the Caterpillar. This is how the Holy Spirit works in our lives. There is great power available to us through Him if we allow Him to lead our steps. It is power to transform us from weak representatives to determined disciples of Jesus Christ.
Maybe you struggle in a particular area of your life. You have told yourself, I can’t get over this besetting sin or remove this burden. I keep falling and failing. My friend, there is hope for you today. The power of the Spirit of God can overcome anything which stands in your way. Trust Him to get the job done in your life today.
Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us, and the Holy Spirit has come to prepare us for that place. — Unknown Author
