Today’s Scripture: And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Romans 13:11
Recently, my wife, Karen, and I were flying back home to Chicago, and due to the flight being overbooked, we got “bumped.” Normally, getting bumped is not ideal. However, in this case, we were bumped up to first class.
Since we normally fly in the coach section, being in first class was quite the eye opener. There was actual leg room and space to stretch out. We were even offered our choice of meals, and afterward the flight attendant came by with a tray of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. It was one thing to look at the tray and say “No, thank you,” but as the flight attendant walked away, the aroma of those warm cookies wafted through our section. It was very hard to resist calling her back!
Christian, I hope that you have “caught the aroma” of the soon return of Christ. I want you to know how wonderful it will be to leave this earth and to leave the problems and struggles that we face. I want you to catch the scent of how amazing it will be to finally be with the Lord. I want you to be able to live today as though you were already with Him.
In today’s Scripture passage, the Apostle Paul encouraged the Christians in Rome to wake up and get to work. He reminds them that the time of the Lord’s return is nearer than when they believed. I say it is even closer today. So Christian, wake up and catch the scent of the return of Christ!
