Today’s Scripture: By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. Hebrews 11:8

He was completely blind. Unable to see the tiniest speck of light, the man walked down the crowded street avoiding a countless number of people, streetlights, and cars. “Impossible,” you say? Think again. It happens every day as thousands of blind men and women are led by seeing-eye-dogs.

The man’s circumstances were bleak – everything was dark with no possible way to see where he was going, and yet he made it through. It is only possible because of the blind man’s faith in the training that the dog has received. He trusts the dog to know when and where it is safe to walk. Although he can’t see the way, the dog is there to help him.

We sometimes face circumstances so dark we don’t know which way to turn. We see no possible way the outcome will be to our benefit. Maybe you have been laid off from a job you’ve had for a long time, maybe your house is in foreclosure and you see no possible way to pay your bills, maybe you or a loved one has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. You feel like giving up. Trust God to lead, even when you don’t see where you’re going.

Faith isn’t trusting God to work things out your way. Faith isn’t demanding to know every step so you can decide whether this is the path you want to go. Faith is accepting that God – who is so much better than a seeing-eye-dog – sees everything and knows where He’s going. Faith begins when we realize we don’t have the answers so we should submit to the One who does. Determine to let God lead today.
