Today’s Scripture: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first and also to the Greek. RomansĀ 1:16

Can a “lifer” in prison ever experience true freedom again? The answer surprisingly is yes! I will never forget my visit to the Louisiana State Penitentiary Angola. Most would expect prison to be filled with hopelessness, despair, and anger. On the contrary, Angola is overflowing with hope, purpose, and life.

Hard to believe? The light of the gospel is what is making the difference in this place. Because of a program began by Art Rorhiem, the inmates have learned the clear message of salvation and so much more. Within those walls, the men learn scripture verses and are given the opportunity to work up through the ranks and even earn a special medal when they have completed their course.

It brings so much joy to my heart to see men who are behind bars for life yet completely free in Christ. Their sins forgiven, they have a new life and new purpose. What an extraordinary difference the power of God can make!

It just goes to show that you never know the impact you can make upon a person by sharing the gospel of grace with them. There are countless souls enslaved by the burden of their sin, unable to break free from their current condition. Believer, we have the answer. So often we neglect to share it because at the moment it feels awkward or may be taken as politically incorrect. We forgo the eternal blessings we could have because we lack the courage to share the life-changing truth.

Make it your purpose today and every day to help someone break free from the chains of sin. Also, consider donating to this incredible ministry to help the inmates in Angola.
