Today’s Scripture: I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Philippians¬†1:3-5

Do you know what a good pastor rejoices in? It is those members of his congregation who are serving the Lord. It does not matter how ornate the building is or how full the parking lot looks. What matters is that his congregation is seeking to serve God.

When Paul addressed the church at Philippi, the congregation was busy doing the work of the Lord. They were laboring together in love and as busy as a beehive. It was a joy to his heart to hear what they were accomplishing through their faithful efforts.

Sometimes we forget how important it is to be active in ministry. It is easy to keep pushing it to the side and using the time to relax instead. But when we have too much time to sit around, Satan attacks our minds and attitudes. He hinders our desire to serve by making us think, “Why would I want more work?” The church at Philippi is a reminder that although ministry may be busy, it brings great joy and reward.

Are you busy doing the work of the Lord? Even if you are a working mom or a busy college student, find a way to be active in your church. Not only will you bring encouragement to your pastor, but you will also bring joy to the Lord. Remember, being busy serving the Lord is the best place to be.
