Today’s Scripture: For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Hebrews¬†6:10

During World War II, England was coming up short in its coal production. While trying to cheer on the miners, Winston Churchill shared with them that the job they were doing was just as important as that of the soldiers on the frontlines. Although the miners were not as impressive or heroic in appearance, they were just as vital to their nation. Churchill encouraged them to keep doing what they were doing behind the scenes.

The same is true in the Christian life. We may not all have the privilege of being on the frontlines, but we are all an important part of the spiritual battle. Our Scripture passage tells us that the Lord will not forget our labor of love. We need people who are willing to work behind the scenes out of love for Christ. Although they may not get the glory now, they will be rewarded in Heaven for their faithfulness.

Are you feeling as if what you do does not matter for the cause of Christ? If you are doing your best for the Lord in your work, there is nothing more that He asks of you. Be faithful in what He has given you to do, whether it is cleaning bathroom stalls at church or watching children in the nursery. No job goes unseen or unrewarded by God. Stay faithful and be encouraged.
