Today’s Scripture: Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. John 10:17-18

An unknown author put together a list of ten things that money can’t buy:

Accidentally overhearing someone saying something nice about you
A certain smell that takes you back to another place or time in your life
When someone unexpectedly remembers your name
Getting to class late and finding out the teacher isn’t there
Laying in the grass and staring at the sky
A baby’s smile
A good night’s sleep
Passing a test you were sure you’d fail
Watching a sunrise or sunset
A photograph of yourself that you actually like

There are many things in life that cannot be purchased with money. The most precious of these is eternal life. The precious blood of Christ is priceless. In liberal churches today, the word blood is being removed from the hymnals because “blood is crude”. They ask, “What kind of father would allow his son to die for sin?”

Jesus suffered willingly what God the Father wanted him to suffer, because God so loved the world. The critic who is ashamed of the sacrifice of Christ should be ashamed because the precious blood is shed for him, too. The very people that curse God will have to stand before Him one day.

When you mock the blood of Christ, you mock the One who willingly shed his blood. Do you think the blood of Christ is crude? Ask God to help you see the value in blood that was shed for you, and to live your life as a thank-you for that precious blood of Christ.
