Today’s Scripture: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

In our society today, we are constantly facing pressure to conform to the world’s way of thinking and acting. From things like morality, marriage, or what pronoun someone wants used to refer to them, there is a pressure that believers face on all sides.

So, it is another timely lesson that we learn from Daniel. We are going to be one of two things: we can either be a conformer or a transformer. We can conform to the world, or we can transform the world. What was Daniel? He was a transformer. He purposed in his heart and refused to give in to the pressure around him. What were his three friends? They were transformers. They refused to conform to society and bow to the king’s image. They said, “God’s way works; this is what we’re going to go with.” They stayed resolved, and the results are obvious.

Romans 12:2 warns to not be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. What are you? Are you a conformer? When the coworkers want you to join them at the bar after work, do you give in? When the dirty jokes are being laughed at, do you chuckle just so you won’t stand out? Or are you a transformer?

Daniel was not mean about it, but he took a stand. May we learn from his example and transform the world we are living in.
