|Today’s Scripture: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. Daniel 3:16-17|
|According to Merriam Webster, the word resolve is defined as follows: to find an answer or solution: to settle or solve: to make a definite and serious decision to do something. Daniel’s three friends
We need to be obedient and pure despite the pressure that we are under. There would have been immense pressure on these boys. In front of everyone who was anyone in Babylon, they were asked to bow down before the image Nebuchadnezzar had made. To refuse meant total destruction. Knowing the punishment was a brutal death, they decided to stand against the king and everything he had tried to accomplish in them. In essence, it was out of the frying pan and into the fryer for Daniel’s comrades.
Although in that moment, life seemed to go from bad to worse; in the midst of that fiery furnace, God’s power was displayed. Not even a hair on them was singed by the blaze. Those who were watching from the outside saw a miracle take place in the form of God’s deliverance of his obedient servants. Now that is the power of God!
Maybe you have given in to some pressure already. It is never too late to resolve to stand and to purpose in your heart to do better. What you are dealing with right now may feel completely overwhelming. In fact, it may seem as though you have been entrapped in a fiery furnace and there is no way out. Remember what your God did for those four young men when they were surrounded by the flames. Although they were in the most horrible position we can imagine, they got to see the power of God up close and personal.
When you are enduring intense pressure, the might of God is able to be seen and felt not only by you, but also by those in your life. No matter which four of the challenges you are facing right now, don’t give up. Despite the place, people, position, or pressure you are experiencing, don’t let your resolve dissolve. When you purpose in your heart to do the right thing, God is going to bless you in a very special way. That is something no place, person, position, or pressure can ever take away. Commit to the Lord today that with His help you are going to stand strong this year and each year to come. Dare to be fearless, determined, and focused on holding to what God desires for your life. Then, get ready to watch Him work!
