Today’s Scripture: And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it. And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water. Exodus 2:9-10

Anyone who has raised children knows how expensive it can be. From keeping food in the refrigerator to replacing outgrown shoes and clothing, it can seem like you are throwing money into a bottomless hole. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to get paid to raise your kids? That is exactly what happened to Jochebed.

In our passage today, we see the final faith lesson from the life of Jochebed: Faith is always rewarded. I can’t imagine how hard it was for her to put Moses into the river and let him go. That took such an enormous amount of faith in God. However, God rewarded her faith.

Not only did she get Moses back for a time, but now she was also getting paid to take care of him. She could now carry him through the town with no fear of having him ripped from her arms. When he got cranky or fussy, she didn’t have to worry that the neighbors would hear his cries. No longer did she have to quiet her husband when he made baby Moses giggle.

Stepping out in faith can seem daunting, even scary. However, if you act on faith, you are going to be so blessed. It might seem like the opposite is happening, but I promise you this. God is faithful, and if you do it God’s way, you will be blessed. The blessings of God are astounding. You may not see it now, but one day you will.
