Today’s Scripture: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8

Comedians joke about Hell, but is it a joking matter? God gives everyone an innate knowledge about Hell. That is why death is greatly feared. At the moment before death or during a near death experience, people’s awareness of Hell always resurfaces.

The Bible gives us a lot of information on Hell, even more than it gives about Heaven. Every detail about Hell is yet another reason to trust Christ to save you from your sins. We know Hell is a place that is dark, yet it burns. There is no hope of leaving, and all those who go will be eternally forsaken by God.

Satan is not the king of Hell, but to this day roams to and fro throughout the earth. (Job 1:7) One day Satan will be in Hell; he won’t be the king of Hell but a prisoner of Hell. God created Hell as the destination for the devil and his demons.

Hades is a place usually translated “hell” in the KJV. This place is divided in two with “a great gulf” separating the two parts. (Luke 16:26) One side is a place of torment, and one is a place of paradise. When Jesus died, He went to Hades paradise and freed those in it. Now, when someone dies who has put their faith in Christ, they are immediately in the presence of God in Heaven. Hades’ paradise is now vacant.

Hades’ torment, Hell, is still the destination for all those who reject Christ. Someday, all those in Hades torment will be resurrected, face God at the Great White Throne Judgement, and be judged by their works to determine their degree of Hell. They will then be cast into the eternal Lake of Fire described as a bottomless pit.

Surely Hell is no joke! This is a very real future for many people. We must do all we can to reach the lost!
