Today’s Scripture: Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. 1 Chronicles 16:8
|Sometimes we have to pause and reflect in order to value the blessings God bestows on us every day. Here are some blessings that maybe we don’t think about as often as we should:
Forgotten Blessing #1 Daily Grace
Where would we be without the grace o God? Because of Christ, we have hope of eternal life. Without him, we would be without hope. And His grace extends to our lives, forgiving us for our may failures and mistakes.
Forgotten Blessing #2 Daily Help
Whether it is as wonderful as a raise or as simple as someone letting you in at an intersection, do you take the time to thank God for His help?
Forgotten Blessing #3 Daily Strength
Whether you have to deal with difficult family members, or quick-tempered coworkers, it is only God’s strength that will help you. A quick prayer said the moment something irritating happens to us can change a bad situation into something bearable. Yet many times we forget we even possess such a wellspring of strength much less remember to thank the Lord for it!
Forgotten Blessing #4 Daily Encouragement
When was the last time you thanked the Lord for the smile you received in the checkout line or the helping hand at work? While I admit that these occurrences are rare, when they happen, it is important we appreciate it.
Forgotten Blessing #5 Daily Comfort
Melissa’s lunch hour was pretty lonely. Because the small grocery store she worked at had only a few tellers, they all had to break separately. But although Melissa was alone, she was never lonely. Her small Bible gave her comfort. She usually read one of the Psalms during the day. Somehow, she could identify with the Psalmist’s longings.
When was the last time you thanked God for the comfort found in His Word? Perhaps you have neglected time for Bible study. Take ten minutes during your own lunch hour this week to study His Word. You will find sustaining comfort and strength to get through your week.
These are all things we sometimes forget to thank God for. Purpose this week that you will thank God for the things that we so often forget.
