Today’s Scripture: And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. Matthew¬†14:28-29

When the Apostle Peter asked to walk on the water, it was a most unusual request. Some scholars have even criticized Peter for trying to show-off in front of the other disciples, while others have criticized him for trying to show that he had more faith in Christ than the other disciples did.

In reality, one of the main reasons why Peter wanted to walk on the water was because he wanted to be closer to Jesus. Peter wanted to be close to Jesus, and Jesus wanted to be close to Peter.

Do you want to get closer to Jesus? People who walk by faith want to be as close to God as they can.

If you really want to get closer to Jesus, you need to walk by faith. Faith… Walking by faith means to make some changes in your life. You cannot stay where you are and get closer to Jesus. Peter wanted to change from being in the boat to being close to Jesus.

Are there some changes you need to make in your life in order to live a life of faith? Maybe you have some worldly habits. Perhaps you aren’t attending church or reading your Bible as often as you should. Make those changes. You’ll be glad you did. Now you’re ready to get out of the boat.
