Today’s Scripture: Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. Jeremiah¬†23:23-24

Why do we think we can run and hide from God? As foolish as it sounds, it seems to be something that we as humans do quite regularly. After Adam and Eve sinned, they hid themselves in the Garden of Eden. Jonah didn’t want to go to Nineveh, so he tried to go as far as possible in the other direction. We often try to keep our sins hidden because we don’t want people to see them, or we think we can get away with it, but God knows all about them.

Unfortunately, many people fail to live the way they should as Christians. They go to church on Sunday and act spiritual, sing in the choir, and maybe even give an offering. They look to be every bit the Christian they should be – but it’s all for show. The rest of the week, they live contrary to God’s Word. We may be able to fool those around us, but we will never fool God – He knows our hearts.

God is not only God when we are in church; He is God everywhere. He is not just God on Sundays, He’s always God. We cannot hide from Him. He is omnipresent and omniscient (all-present and all-knowing), so trying to hide something from Him is futile.

God always knows what we’re doing, so we should serve Him all the time. We will have to give account of everything we have done, so purpose to live your life wholly for Him. Let’s not run and hide from God anymore.
