Today’s Scripture: The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalm 14:1
I have never been able to understand it: A scientist can look at a car and conclude it had a manufacturer. He can study a painting and admit it had an artist. He can read a book and say it had an author. But when he looks at the world, which is far more complicated, he cannot admit there was a God who created it. How foolish. How ignorant. How sad. This is the life of an atheist.
On their website, the American Atheists state, “Through lawsuits, innovative public relations campaigns, and education, we are working to normalize atheism and allow more and more people to set aside religious belief and superstition.” Atheism is growing in popularity, partly because of the efforts of men such as Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, and the late Christopher Hitchens. These men have tried to move atheism into the mainstream of our culture so that it becomes more acceptable. The main point behind their arguments is that every aspect of life can be explained without God, from Creation, to religion, to biology, to technology. If they can disprove the existence of God, then human beings can “stop worrying and enjoy life,” as one atheistic billboard states. Should Christians be worried about this?
If God was worried about atheists, then Christians would have reason to worry. But He is not. He has devoted half of a verse (11 words) in all of Scripture to them. Psalm 14:1a says it clearly, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” Anyone who tries to tell you God does not exist is a fool, plain and simple — God says so. No matter how hard he tries, man cannot rationalize God away. He has always been and will always be, and deep down inside every atheist knows this.
Do not be intimidated by people who call you foolish because of your stand on the Word of God. Unbelievers are the real fools, because they will someday spend eternity separated from the God they refused to believe in. Stand your ground and do everything you can to share the truth with others.
