Today’s Scripture: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? Daniel 4:35
The grimy cell crawled with fleas. Corrie Ten Boom and her sister, Betsie, could barely move without being covered by the little beasts. But rather than fearing the fleas, the sisters were more afraid that their treasured Bible would be snatched from them by one of the guards.
As the two sat in the filth, Betsie suggested to Corrie that they thank God for everything—even the fleas. Corrie reluctantly joined her sister in prayer.
Weeks later, Betsie overheard one of the supervisors say she would not dare step foot in their cell because of the fleas. When Corrie heard this, she realized the blessing God had provided because they praised Him despite the circumstances.
Sometimes, it does not feel as though God is in every aspect of our lives. We forget He is in control each step of the way. No one can stay His hand or ask Him, “What are you doing?” Although we won’t fully understand the Lord’s reasoning here on earth, He always has our best interest in mind. We must remember to thank Him even during the hard times.
Suffering from a chronic health condition? Struggling financially? Take some time right now to thank the Lord for your life—even the difficult parts. When you praise Him even for the bad, God can bless in ways you never thought possible. Why not thank Him for the “fleas” right now?
