One of the hardest things to tell a Christian is “I told you so.” I remember talking to a man who was involved in a destructive, sinful addiction. I told him, “You are traveling down a road which will destroy you, and very likely destroy your family. The Word of God says don’t go down that road.”
Five years later, I sat down with the same man, whose poor choices had brought intense pain and suffering to his family. Searching for the right words, I told him, “I don’t want to say, ‘I told you so,’ but what God said was true.”
I might as well have stated, “God told you so.” The man knew what God had said, but because he chose to ignore the warning, he wound up in a mess he regretted.
When God reveals sin in our lives, we can either acknowledge and forsake it, or we can harden our hearts and continue stubbornly ahead. God equates this rebellion with trampling upon the sacred and holy blood of Jesus Christ—a severe offense. Oh, how dangerous it is for that Christian!
God may be tugging at your heartstrings today through a message you heard in church. Are you abusing the grace by which you have been saved? Don’t ignore that stinging feeling in the pit of your stomach. What sin God reveals, He heals. Confess your faults to Him and experience complete restoration today—God promises you so. You have His Word.
