Today’s Scripture: Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Psalm 34:19

There are certain words in scripture that we might want to change. We may wish that this verse began, “Few are the afflictions of the righteous,” but the truth is that the righteous will suffer. The Bible states, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12) The devil wants to keep us from serving Christ and will do whatever he can in order to cause us to fall. But even in those afflictions, we have a hope-the LORD will deliver us out of them all! Aren’t you so glad that word is “all”? No affliction we face is too great for God. He will protect us from the dangers that may come our way. God never promised that life would be a bed of roses; God promised deliverance. Trials will come our way, and newsflash, trials hurt. If they weren’t painful, they wouldn’t be called trials.

God allows us to go through difficult circumstances in our lives, but it doesn’t mean He isn’t there with us and protecting us. Daniel was thrown into a den of lions. Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) were thrown into a fiery furnace. David ran for his life from Saul, and Joseph was sold into slavery and then put in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Even in these terrible situations, God protected them and used them to show His power. Even those that died for their faith were still under His protection, but He allowed them to be delivered through death.

No matter what you are facing, you have been promised deliverance by God. Your trials may be great, but your God is greater. He loves you and wants the best for you. He knows what you’re going through and how it will end. Though your trials may be many, trust Him because He promised deliverance from them all.
