Today’s Scripture: And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, of the hand of Naomi. 10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day. Ruth 4:9-10
The story of Ruth is a beautiful story of redemption. Boaz was the kinsman redeemer who was both able and willing to redeem. The moment he took Ruth to be his wife, she became a recipient of all that was his.
What we do not find in this story is “Second Ruth” – the part of the story where Ruth wakes up the next morning, and heads back out to the fields to keep gleaning. She had been redeemed, and everything that Boaz had was hers. She no longer belonged out in the fields.
Christian, you’ve been redeemed by the Son of God. The moment you place your faith in His finished work on the cross, you are blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). You no longer must live like you are not redeemed.
Maybe the fresh start you are looking for in 2018 has to do with bad choices, addictions, or other stubborn habits. Just as Ruth received a fresh start as a believer and the wife of Boaz, you too can be freed from living your old life. Begin by getting to know the Truth (John 14:6) and the Truth will make you free (John 8:32).
