Today’s Scripture: But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out. Numbers 32:23

“Dad, why do you always smell like smoke?” questioned Barb.

“Well, Honey, you know I don’t believe in smoking, but everyone at work smokes. It makes my clothes smell like cigarettes,” he replied.

A few years later, Barb’s father, Jack, died at the age of forty-nine. As the family gathered his effects, a small package fell from the inside pocket of his sport-coat. Barb leaned down to pick it up and froze. “He lied to me,” she said biting her lip. The family gathered around to see what was wrong only to see a pack of cigarettes lying on the floor.

When Jack died, his “secret sin” was revealed. Often, we too try to hide our sins. We fail to realize that not only does the sin hurt us, but it also hurts those around us. In our scripture passage, we are told our sin will always find us out.

Do you have a “secret sin” in your life? Whether you are a pastor, deacon, a new or old Christian, you cannot hide from God. Why not take this time to bring your sin before the Lord? He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all your not-so-secret-sins.
