One encounter with Jesus changed the leper’s entire outlook on life. The healed man could move into the city, make new friends, find a nice house, get a job, climb the corporate ladder, make a decent living, settle down and raise a family, and maybe even buy himself a fancy chariot. But he wasn’t thinking about these things after he met Jesus. The only thing on his mind was spreading the word about what Jesus had done for him. He became an instant evangelist. The Bible says he began to “publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter,” meaning he told as many people as he could. He thought what Jesus had done in his life was so exciting that he couldn’t keep it to himself.
When God does a work in our lives, whether it is providing a mate, giving us a better job or a nicer house, helping us recover from an illness, answering a prayer, or meeting a need, it is so great that it should make us excited — so excited that we tell others. Then others will want to bring their needs to Christ and see Him do great things for them.
Has God been doing a great work in your life? Has He been rewarding your faith, sharing more of His will, helping you mature as a person and as a Christian, guiding you in a relationship, or strengthening you during a trial? Tell someone else; don’t keep it to yourself. Your story may bring encouragement to them. They might want to see for themselves who God is and what He can do in their life. Better yet, they might want to put their trust in Him for their salvation. But they won’t know if you don’t tell them. Get excited enough to spread the good word about your God. It will spread like wildfire.
