Today’s Scripture: Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22

As believers, we need to look at this topic of alcohol and ask why would we get near something that can cause so much heartache and damage, and can kill and destroy? We are to be peculiar and zealous for good works, and to help people and give a cup of cold water in the name of Christ.

Who is providing the answers? The people that are providing most of the answers these days are the drug and alcohol abuse centers, and they aren’t doing a lot to stop it. Most are trying to stop overuse or drunk driving. A lot of organizations are against drunk driving.

The public schools aren’t doing a very good job of it. Our society is so unsure about drinking that those who have the responsibility of guiding our youth – parents, teachers, and pastors – are reluctant to talk about it, because they are not convinced.

Who should be the ones warning others of the pitfall, and giving answers? The very ones who have a Biblical answer to this problem. For those that believe that the Bible is the Word of God, we must have an answer; we must examine the teachings from Scripture.

Friend, this month we have hit this topic of alcohol very hard. My hope is that if you already abstain from alcohol this study has helped strengthen your position. If you feel offended, I pray you will take a long hard look at what the Scriptures say. You may be able to financially afford alcohol, but the price you will eventually have to pay is far too great.
