Today’s Scripture: But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. Mark 13:32-33

I want you to reminisce about your childhood for a moment. Do you remember when mom and dad would leave you at home and entrust you with a task to be completed before they returned? You know, the classic phrase: “I want your room spotless by the time we get back.” I know mine did. Some of you probably cleaned your room right away while others, like me, procrastinated till the very…last…second.

“I know they’re coming back, but just one more game,” you thought to yourself. “It can wait five more minutes.” Praise God that garage doors back in the day sounded like earthquakes! Friend, you don’t know how fast you can clean a room until you hear your parents arrive and the sound of the garage door going up!

As Christians, if we don’t live with a sense of the Lord’s imminent return, we lose our sense of energy and determination. As a kid, I may have been bad at cleaning my room, but I sure was excited about the Lord’s return. My friends and I even did “rapture practice”. Looking back as an adult I think we were onto something with that “rapture practice.” The time of Christ’s return is not known, but we do know that it is coming. Having this knowledge, we need to live each day as prepared, determined, excited servants; not panicked procrastinators.

When you consider the Lord’s return, it should excite you, not frighten you. Are you ashamed of how you have been spending your days, or are you looking forward to the moment when you will see your Savior’s face and cast your crowns at His feet? If you are prepared, you will have no need to be scared. Are you rapture ready today?
