Today’s Scripture: And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. Exodus 14:13

Do you ever scratch your head and wonder, “Why does God sometimes choose to do things the hard way?” This is what Israel wondered as they faced the Red Sea on one side and the marching armies of Pharaoh on the other. God could have led them a faster, easier route to Canaan. Then again, God doesn’t do things the way we think He should, does He?Perhaps you’re having a Red Sea moment in your life. You wish God would just get you that job already, but instead, you have to wait, agonize, and wonder.

Maybe you’re single and waiting for God’s best to come into your life. With every passing year, it seems your prospects are dwindling. You wonder if God is really paying attention to you.

Perhaps you’re waiting for a medical diagnosis, but it seems the doctors are taking more time, more tests, more office visits, and more paperwork. Meanwhile, your pain doesn’t subside and your pocketbook is getting thinner.

What we don’t realize is that God has a lot to teach us in those Red Sea moments. He wanted to teach Israel that He could be trusted and that His ways were infinitely better than their best-laid plans.

That’s the lesson God intends for us to learn as well.
