Today’s Scripture: And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD:   for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Jeremiah 31:34

Two men were on trial for robbing a bank. There was an eyewitness who was on the witness stand. The attorney was asking questions: “Were you there when the bank was robbed?”

“Yes,” the witness replied.

“Are the men who committed the robbery in this room right now?” asked the attorney, to which both of the men on trial raised their hands. They sealed their own fate with their own guilt.

The only way we can be free from guilt and live guilt free of these forgiven sins is to combat the devil’s lies with God’s truth.

1 John 2:1 – We have an advocate before God, Jesus Christ the Righteous. He is our defense attorney. You cannot get a more expensive attorney than Jesus Christ. This is a truth that we must shout to the devil any time we feel guilt weighing us down.

John 3:17-18 – God did not send His son to condemn, but to save. Those who believe on Him are not condemned. We have already been declared righteous because of Jesus Christ. Yes, we are guilty, but when we receive the payment made for us on the cross, it is as if God the Father says, “Not guilty.” The blood of Jesus has obliterated the indictment.

Romans 8:1 – There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. When you receive the gift of eternal life, you are “in Christ.” If you are in Christ, there is no condemnation. We have to remind the flesh, the world, and the devil that there is no condemnation. When you start to feel the weight of guilt coming back on you, read these promises from God’s Word.

1 Corinthians 6:11 – Such were some of you, but you are washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of Jesus. You have been cleaned, sanctified, and justified. Yes, you will still sin, but your standing before God is justified. God is listening to your advocate, your defense attorney, Jesus, who says, “My blood has paid for those sins.”

Jeremiah 31:34 – God has a good “forgetter”; He remembers our sins no more.

Psalm 103:12 – He removes our sin as far as the east is from the west.

Micah 7:19 – He will cast our sins into the depths of the sea.

You do not have to worry about forgiven sins anymore. That is how you can live guilt-free lives. You have been snatched from the fire. You might look in the mirror and see some scars, but God has officially declared you righteous. He has declared you forgiven. When Satan whispers, “Remember the guilt,” just say, “My Father, Almighty God, has forgiven me.” Remind the devil that God has forgiven you.
