Today’s Scripture: Wherefore lift up the feeble hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Hebrews 12:12-13

The air hung thick in the crowded room. With no space for even one more person to stand, the setting provided an interesting challenge for the group of friends who were outside the house on a mission. Rather than throwing in the towel, they brainstormed. Their ailing friend was too dear to them to give up on like this. Only Jesus could heal him. They had already come this far, and He was only a few steps away.

“That’s it! We’ll let him down from the roof!”

Despite what the multitude might say, the band of friends was determined. Thatch began to tumble down upon the sticky heads and shoulders of the tightly gathered crowd. As they looked up, they were greeted with quite the surprise from that roof-top. Dangling from the partially dismantled roof was a stretcher-like bed of a man sick with palsy, and it was traveling down to Jesus’ feet. Jesus saw the faith of the man and his friends. He forgave the man and said to him rise up and walk.

These friends must have truly loved him because despite the obstacles in their way, they refused to give up. When most people would have called it a day, they went all the way up to the roof-top.

There are so many people we need to carry the stretcher for-people who are paralyzed by the world. They need to be carried to Jesus. People respond to those who sit where they sit, who are not too high and mighty to reach out and care about their heart. What about you? Are you willing to go all the way to the rooftop to reach a soul or help a hurting member of the body of Christ? Ask the Lord right now to show you someone whose stretcher you can carry.
