Today’s Scripture: So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. PsalmĀ 90:12

As you open your emails this morning, you probably have an internal to-do-list in your mind. The alarm clock has gone off, the coffee is ready, and it is time to start the day. Your mind is most likely already racing from one thing to another. In our fast-paced lives, it is hard to have a moment when only God fills our minds. Each day seems to begin the same way. Day in and day out we go about our routines, never stopping to consider that we have been blessed with another day-a day that we were never guaranteed to have.

Many times I like to read the Psalms, because I find so much comfort there. But sometimes along with those verses that bring me peace, are verses that remind me how quickly life goes. We feel like we have forever, especially when we are young. Truth be told, we don’t.

Today, I will keep it short and sweet. But, I want us to remember that we are never promised another minute, another hour, another day, or another week. God’s Word tells us to number our days that we would be wise about how we go about our daily lives. We are not to assume that we have years upon years to make a difference for the Lord. We must do so right now, in this moment that we have been given today.

If you were told that this year would be your last year on this earth, what would you do differently? Would you treat your spouse with more kindness and love than you have been this past year? How would you feel about explaining the way you have behaved with others up to this point in time-are there relationships you would want to fix? There may be things that you would like to accomplish for the Lord that you have been too afraid to try, or people you have been too scared to share the gospel with. Friend, we have Heaven to look forward to and nothing to fear, but the fear of what we have left undone.
