Today’s Scripture: In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you… John 14:2a
There once was a cargo ship filled with sheep making a long journey from Scotland to Australia. The ship and crew along with all the livestock had made it safely so far and their destination was just in sight. Much to their dismay, a thick fog suddenly rolled in. No one could see through the haze, so they dropped anchor lest their ship be dashed upon the rocks.
The fog stayed for two long days, during which the sheep refused to eat. Everyone was troubled, and no one had a solution. Finally, the fog lifted, and there they saw the lush, green hills of Australia. It all made sense! Those sheep could smell the wonderful fresh grass and no longer had an appetite for the stale, moldy hay!
Here on earth, our house may not be that great, our car might be sub-par, and our clothes may be less than designer quality. At times, we may struggle to just pay the bills and buy groceries. Finances begin to weigh on our mind and we feel the stress when the money tree dies. Friend, that’s not where our value lies. Scripture states, “In my Father’s house are many mansions.” Jesus isn’t up there building those mansions. Our wonderful, permanent home is already there and ready for us in a place with no stress, pain, or sorrow.
Believer, when you feel crazy because your finances are coming up short and life is tight, focus on the very real fact that you have an incredible inheritance in Heaven. When life gets tough, take a moment to read Revelation 21 and remember that this earth is like moldy hay in comparison to what awaits you in glory.
