Today’s Scripture: And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation. Revelation 5:9

We live in a world that is all about being politically correct. From being pressured to use the correct gender-neutral pronouns, to not making anyone feel uncomfortable with our Christianity, the “PC” epidemic is spreading fast. Unfortunately, it has extended into many churches to the point where even the blood and the cross of Christ are being removed from hymnals.

I am in complete disagreement with that action. The hymnal of heaven talks about the blood, the cross, and the lamb that was slain. In fact, that is the center of the song in Revelation 5:9-14. We should not be taking the crucifixion and the blood out of our hymnals to avoid offending people. Why is this issue so important? Because, it is through the shed blood of Christ on the cross that we have eternal hope.

Right now, Jesus is ascended into heaven as the Conqueror of sin, death, and hell. Because we know the story of the cross, we know that no matter what we are going through, Jesus has suffered worse than anything we could ever experience. He is in control at this very moment. What seems to be chaotic is all simply part of His plan. The Lamb is at the Father’s right hand as a symbol of authority, strength, and blessing. It is by His blood that we have been redeemed.

Hold fast the importance of Christ’s shed blood on Calvary. The most marvelous of His works was not creation, but redemption. Consider what Jesus went through to bridge the vast expanse between heaven and hell. He suffered for you. Let that shape your perspective today. Whatever the world pushes upon you, whatever pressure is weighing on your shoulders, whatever fiery arrows Satan sends your way today, remember you serve a Savior Who loved you so much He gave Himself for you.
