Today’s Scripture: Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else. Deuteronomy 4:39
Every person we respect in history had flaws. George Washington, arguably our nation’s best President, owned slaves. The same brilliant Thomas Jefferson who wrote the Declaration of Independence with its line “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal” was a racist slave-owner who had a slave as a mistress. Alexander Hamilton committed adultery. The Constitution was written by Founding Fathers who were very imperfect. The document was adopted by all of the states only because it allowed for African slaves to be counted as three-fifths of a citizen.
Any study of great men and women will reveal great accomplishments and great flaws. But as I’ve studied the life of Jesus Christ, I haven’t found any flaws. He is the only Person in human history who was perfect. Deeper examination into His life and teachings only confirms His greatness. He is everything He said He was and so much more. He is worthy of our worship. He is worthy of the highest honor. He is a truly great Person.
What do you think of Jesus? You may have been disappointed after discovering the imperfections of famous people you respected. (It might even surprise you that the people in your church have flaws, too.) But you won’t be disappointed with Jesus. If you want to go to Heaven, He is the Way. If you want honest answers to guide your life, He is the Truth. If you want peace and blessings from God, He is the Life. Put your trust in Him today. He died to pay for all of your sins and rose again. He wants to save you. He is the only One who can.
