Today’s Scripture: Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. Matthew 12:31-32
Maybe you have questions concerning the “unpardonable sin.” “Is there an unpardonable sin?” “If so, what is the unpardonable sin?” I will attempt to answer your questions and encourage you to watch the Moments In Grace about this subject.
We see from the above verses there is a sin that will not be forgiven. This sin is “the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.” There is a very serious consequence for this sin because the person who commits this sin will spend an eternity in Hell.
How exactly do you blaspheme the Holy Spirit? Well, if the Holy Spirit’s job is to “reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement” (John 16:8), then you blaspheme the Holy Ghost when you reject the Spirit’s message. You are going against the Spirit when you reject the gospel. It is the rejection of the gospel that keeps a person out of Heaven.
The “unpardonable sin” is the sin of rejecting the Holy Spirit’s conviction to receive Christ. It is not suicide, murder, adultery, etc. Notice in Matthew it says, “All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven…” You cannot sin so badly, that Jesus’ death cannot pay the penalty. “…but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.” It is only when you reject the payment on the cross` that your sin will not be forgiven. If you reject the payment for your sins, then you must pay the price of sin. That is all the “unpardonable sin” is. Once you accept Christ as your Savior, you can rely on the promise that nothing can separate you from the love of God. Salvation is by grace through faith. Don’t reject the gospel, trust Him today.
