Today’s Scripture: Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Ephesians 5:17‑18

Sometimes I wish things didn’t fall apart so easily. Two weeks after having my car serviced, I couldn’t get the heater to work. When I took it back to the shop, they told me I didn’t have any radiator fluid. Then they tried to blame me for the problem, when, in fact, they had forgotten to check my fluid levels the last time I came for service.

In the Christian life, the Holy Spirit is like our “radiator fluid.” He is the Source of our spiritual strength. The more He controls our lives, the more His fruit will be visible through us. The Spirit will only take control when we walk in Him, which is done by trusting and obeying the Word of God. This is our filling station.

Now, we don’t need a fill-up in the sense of getting more of the Spirit, but we do need Him to get more of us. Life works so much better when we’re letting the Spirit lead — and He even shows us when it’s time to check our fluid levels. A lack of joy and peace are two symptoms He uses to make us aware of sin which keeps us from fellowship with God.

You may be wondering why you don’t have joy or peace in your relationship with Christ. Have you checked your spiritual fluid levels? Is the Holy Spirit leading in every area of your life, or are there some burdens you don’t want to turn over to Him just yet? Let the Holy Spirit have all of you. Your life won’t run right unless He’s in full control.
