|Night sneaks up quickly as you explore the woods. You look around and see nothing. It is pitch-black; the moon is hidden by the clouds, and you can’t see the stars. Nothing looks familiar; you wander around for a while hoping for anything that will remind you how to get back to camp. You don’t know what else to do so you cry out, hoping that someone will hear you. Then, you see a flashlight beam pierce the darkness. Someone is coming. As the figure gets closer, you hear your father calling out your name. You run to him thankful that you were found. As you walk back to camp together, you turn and ask your dad, “How did you find me?”
“I heard your cry,” he answers.
When we are going through situations we don’t understand and don’t know which way to go, our Heavenly Father always hears our cry. Not only does He hear us, He knows what we are going through. He loves us and will help us in our distresses. When we feel lost and alone, He is there listening for our cries.
Are you bewildered by your circumstances? Did you think you knew which way to turn only to find it a dead end? Does it seem so dark that you don’t even see what your options are? God knows you feel lost, and He will provide the way home.
Here are three steps to take when you don’t even see one:
1. Pray. He will hear your cry.
2. Trust. He will answer. It may not be what you want or expect, but it is the best answer.
3. Wait. The answer is coming – but in God’s timing.
Remember, your Father cares for you and will rescue you when you’re lost in the woods.
