Today’s Scripture: But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Psalm 1:2
The second unlock code to unlock our fresh start in 2020 is found in Psalm1:2 – “His delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”
Now we’re into the positive. Verse two says his delight – he’s happy, he’s delighted, he’s excited about the Law of the Lord. The word “law” is torah. The Torah was the Scripture that they had at the time – the first five books of the Bible. That was the Word of God and the Law of God. It is what they had access to then.
Isn’t it amazing that now we have access to sixty-six books of God, the complete revelation of God? Not only do we have the printed word of God, but we have the Word of God – Jesus, the Logos, the One Who fully expressed the thoughts and intents of God.
They had the Torah and they were to delight in that, but now we have the full revelation of God. We need to appreciate that, to delight in that. We need to know what God has said. So many people think of reading the Bible as drudgery or boring. If that is the case, then you have the wrong attitude. The right attitude is to approach the Bible as having the answers for everything.
One afternoon I was getting a snack of some ham slices, and my grandson, Charlie, came up to me with his arms extended. I thought, “Oh, he wants to be with his grandpa. He loves me so much!” So, I picked him up, and he immediately reached for my piece of ham. He didn’t want me – he wanted my ham. I shared some with him, and we had a grand old time as we had a snack. We were being satisfied.
I hope that you have a yearning and desire to partake of the Word of God. I hope that you see the value in it and see how important it is. I hope you see that devouring the Word is the only way you will be successful and blessed in life. Don’t go a day without “eating” at least something from the Word of God.
