Today’s Scripture: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

If you haven’t checked out our YouTube series Moments In Grace, I encourage you to take a look at it after reading this.

The Bible says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) God cannot allow sin into Heaven, because Heaven is perfect. If sin entered Heaven, then death would enter Heaven because the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) That is very bad news, we all have sinned, can’t go to Heaven, and all of us have earned eternal Hell because of our sins.

God hates sin because it destroys not only our lives, relationships, and joy, but it destroys our eternity! God has a huge dilemma, He loves all of us, yet He can’t allow sin to enter Heaven.

God, being so much more loving than we can ever imagine, proved His love by giving His only begotten Son. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” His Son took our death penalty! We should’ve died and been forsaken by God, but He died and was forsaken by His Father in our place.

John 3:17 says, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” God didn’t come to condemn us, He came to save us! We are already condemned because we have sinned, but God loved us anyway. Why did God die for us? The only reason is because He loves us.

There is no man that has ever had greater love than the man who gave his life for his friend. (John 15:13) However, God had greater love. He gave His life “while we were yet sinners.”

If we believe in His death, burial, and resurrection to save us, we shall “not perish, but have everlasting life.” Christ loved us so much He did everything to save us. We can’t do anything to help Him out, just trust in His complete work on the cross to save us.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
